Product Structure

Online soft starter has intelligent control functions, supports multiple communication interfaces (such as RS485, Modbus, etc.), can be easily connected with PLC, DCS and other control systems to achieve remote monitoring and control. Users can real-time monitor motor operation parameters and status through upper computer, perform remote operation and fault diagnosis, improving the system's automation level and management efficiency.
- Reduce impact current: Online soft starter can make the motor current rise with a smooth curve during startup, avoiding the impact current up to several times or even more than ten times the rated current produced by traditional startup methods (such as direct startup). This not only reduces the impact on the power grid, reduces voltage drop caused by excessive startup current, protects the normal operation of other equipment under the same power grid, but also extends the service life of motors and related equipment.
- Reduce mechanical stress: During startup, the soft starter can gradually increase the motor's torque, avoiding mechanical impact caused by the motor instantly bearing excessive torque under traditional startup methods, reducing wear of transmission systems (such as belts, gears, etc.), reducing equipment maintenance and component replacement costs, improving equipment reliability and stability.
- Precise control: With multiple startup modes, such as voltage ramp startup, current limit startup, etc., users can flexibly choose according to different load characteristics and working condition requirements. At the same time, the soft starter can precisely adjust startup time, current limit multiple and other parameters to achieve precise control of the motor startup process
- Soft stop function: In addition to soft start, online soft starter also has soft stop function. It can make the motor gradually reduce speed during stopping, avoiding water hammer effect (for fluid loads such as water pumps) or mechanical impact caused by the motor suddenly stopping under traditional stopping methods, protecting equipment and pipeline systems, extending equipment service life.
Working Principle
- Voltage Regulation Principle
Online soft starter usually uses thyristor (SCR) as power control element. Thyristor has the characteristic of controlling its conduction angle. By changing the conduction angle of thyristor, the voltage applied to the motor can be adjusted. During startup, the soft starter will gradually increase the output voltage, so that the motor starts from a lower voltage, avoiding high voltage impact during direct startup. - Current Limiting Principle
The soft starter realizes current limiting function by monitoring the motor current. During startup, it will limit the motor startup current within a set range. When the current exceeds the set value, the soft starter will automatically adjust the conduction angle of the thyristor, reduce the output voltage, thereby reducing the current. As the motor speed increases, the motor’s back electromotive force gradually increases, the current will gradually decrease, and the soft starter will correspondingly gradually increase the output voltage, making the motor finally reach rated voltage and rated speed operation. - Control Principle
There is a control circuit inside the soft starter, which can control the conduction angle of the thyristor according to preset parameters and motor operation status. The control circuit usually uses microprocessor or dedicated control chip, through processing and analyzing signals collected by various sensors, to realize precise control of the motor startup process. For example, according to factors such as motor load condition, power supply voltage, automatically adjust startup time, current limit value and other parameters to ensure that the motor can start smoothly and reliably.
Through the above working principles, online soft starter can realize soft start of motor, reduce current impact and mechanical impact during startup, extend the service life of motor and related equipment, and also reduce the impact on the power grid.
